About the role

We are currently looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team. This is an office-based position in Camperdown, Sydney within IDCARE’s Cyberpsychology Support Centre. The key position responsibility is to provide an escalatory telephone-based, wellbeing support service for individuals referred from IDCARE’s National Case Management Centre who are experiencing or at risk of severe mental health impacts due to a scam, cybercrime or identity theft incident. This could include identifying and taking action of immediate risks, providing emotional support and practical coping strategies, conducting a brief psychological assessment, making recommendations for further support, and facilitating handover to other services as required.

Skills, experience and qualifications

To be highly effective within our team you will need:

  • To be person-centred and empathic, with a genuine desire to make a difference
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with an ability to confidentially navigate and support individuals in crisis
  • High levels of competency, adaptability and initiative to ensure a proactive approach to learning and task completion
  • A proven ability to think on your feet and critically analyse risk factors
  • An ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • To demonstrate strong ethics and integrity in representing our services and maintaining values
  • Experience handling personal, commercial and sensitive information
  • Proficiency with technology and Microsoft 365
  • Call Centre / Customer Service experience (highly desirable)
  • Candidates who are currently studying or already have qualifications in psychology, counselling, social work or a related field will be looked upon favourably

Key responsibilities

  • Provide wellbeing support to clients via outbound contact in line with training received and the Cyberpsychology Support Centre model of care.
  • Strictly follow risk management procedures regarding client disclosure of suicidal ideation or intent to harm self or others.
  • Accurately document interactions with clients and adhere to confidentiality and privacy requirements related to capture of health information.  
  • Undertake internal Case Management training in IDCARE’s National Case Management Centre.  
  • Other agreed upon tasks that contribute to the research and client support goals of the organisation.
